Open Budget is a visualization of polish budget data released by Centrum Cyfrowe - a center "offering expertise and know-how on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to enhance social capital in Poland, civic engagement, and efficiency of the state".

By providing clear labels and smooth transitions I wanted to make browsing the tree structure of the budget a pleasant experience. Because we operate on a very big amounts of money all the data were rescaled to fit into 100 PLN (an equivalent of 25 EUR) to make it more understandable. Additionally the contribution of the founds from the European Union has ben marked using hatching.

In the recent competition on visualizing the budget data this project has won the first place in the interactive visualization category.

This project is using an amazing D3 library by Mike Bostock.
